The trip to Chicago by Wendy

Last summer, my mom and I went to America to visit my uncle for our summer vacation. My uncle lives in Chicago, IL. This is my first time to go abroad. We had a very happy time.

Chicago is the third big city in America. There are so many places to be worth visiting. We went to many fantastic and famous scenic spots and museums, such as Field Museum of Natural History, Museum of Science and Industry, Shedd Aquarium, Art Institute of Chicago, Oak Street Beach, Navy Pier Grant Park, Lincoln Park Zoo, ect.

In these museums, I like the Field Museum of Natural History and the Art Institute of Chicago the best. In Field Museum of Natural History, I saw the largest and most complete T-Rex “Sue” dinosaur skeleton and well-preserved man-eating lions, and I walked into the style of antiquity Egyptian pyramid's tomb pit to see 23 mummies. In the Art Institute of Chicago, Monet, Renoir, Van Gough and other artists’ paints and arts impressed me. In these days, we were double-quick to visit these museums, because there are so many exhibitions and visitors coming from many other countries that we could not see carefully the all.

I also like Lincoln Park Zoo and Oak Street Beach, too. Lincoln Park Zoo includes an ape house, a birdhouse and a 12-million dollar greenhouse with rain forests, savannahs and deserts under a 45-foot high glass dome. I like the cute apes very much, Oak Street Beach is the Chicago’s most famous beach and the perfect place to relax and people watch. The beach is man-made and the sand is shipped in from other places. But people here don’t seem to care, and everyone very enjoy the man-made beach here.

This summer vacation is my best summer vacation that I ever had. I got much knowledge and broaden my horizon. I deeply appreciate my mom and uncle, and I hope I can go there again.
